Victoria is only really used to a smattering of snow, appearing for a few days and then washed away by the winter rains. This copse had barely shed its fall foliage when snow rimed its windward trunks during the shortest days of the year.

Murals decorate brick walls of buildings in the downtown core of Victoria and in many other cities. 1252 Wharf Street is visible from the Johnson Street Bridge and shows black and white orcas moving through ocean waters. Time and the salt air has eaten into the painted bricks causing the images to fade from view…

In the fall, the Homathko Band guide guests up the river from Bute Inlet to view the Grizzlies feeding on salmon. This is one of two sisters who were playing in shallows looking lunch.
